WWE: Truth be told, Barrett has to take the MITB spot

It seemed odd that WWE chose to take R-Truth out of Money in the Bank in two weeks, especially considering a bubbling hot feud with The Miz, who beat Truth for the United States Championship just a few weeks ago.

The whole angle struck me as booking on the fly. But a lot depends on where WWE goes from here.

The first thought that popped into mind was that creative was opening the door for someone to enter the Money in the Bank match at the pay-per-view. It has to be someone relevant. It has to advance someone’s storyline.

Really, it has to be Wade Barrett.

Obviously the “mystery” GM on Raw has some ties to the Nexus. At least that’s how it openly appears. There have been subtle hints in both directions.

Adding Barrett to the match advances that storyline and takes some of the group’s heat away from John Cena and focuses it more towards the rest of the MITB participants, at least for the next two weeks.

Then, if Cena goes over Sheamus and wins the title at the PPV and Barrett wins MITB – likely with help from his Nexus brethren – then bingo, a Barrett-Cena feud heats up again and takes us into Summerslam, at least that’s my guess.

In the meantime, Truth gets a few weeks off and is back for vengeance against Miz, who cost him his opportunity to be a WWE Champion.

Maybe it wasn’t just booking on the fly … maybe it was … logical?
